What is usability?
Think of it this way: When you are shopping for car, you have hundreds of models from which to choose. They are all very different. A Ford pickup has a different purpose and design than a Ferrari. But all vehicles have a steering wheel, 4 tires, the gas pedal on the right, the brake on the left and so on. If every car functioned in a new way (e.g., gas pedal on the left or a steering stick instead of a wheel), most people would keep the car they are most comfortable with and avoid having to learn a new way to drive.

Usability simply makes sure that your web site has all the basic components in place so people can intuitively "drive" your web site to get the information they seek.

The form of your web site is where you have the flexibility to express yourself. The professionalism and creativity of designs are what separates the Yugos from the Mercedes.
